Our first guest blog for International Women’s Day 2019 comes from Gail Turner, Founder of Frogjuggler, a graphic design and web development business, on breaking out of the ‘rigid 9 to 5 routine’.
Frogjuggler was born way back in 2007. At the time I was working full-time in a busy agency. I have always had a passion for design and love what I do, but with two small children I was feeling more and more suffocated by the rigid 9 to 5 routine and wanted to take ownership of the way I worked. Now my schedule is my own, there’s none of that worthless office guilt from a boss to worry about!
My biggest challenge was in 2017, when unfortunately, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. That was tough. When you’re self-employed you can’t really get ill! I learnt to accept help graciously in whatever form it takes and to try to do less, but do it better!
Working for yourself is an adventure and running a small business is the greatest form of personal development. You will learn a lot about yourself that you might never otherwise know.
